Vul Bentsion Moiseevich (1903-1985)
Bentsion Moiseevich Vul was a well-known physicist, the expert in physics of dielectrics, semiconductors and quantum electronics.
Bentsion Vul was born on May 22, 1903 in Bila Tserkva, Ukraine. He graduated from Kiev Polytechnic Institute in 1928. Since 1932 he worked at the Institute of Physics in the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, and became an Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR in 1972.
Bentsion Moiseevich Vul has played a key role in creation of the first Soviet semiconductor diodes, transistors, solar batteries and semiconductor lasers. Vul B. M., Basov N.G., and Popov Yu. M. came out with the joint idea of semiconductor lasers, and eximer lasers activated by the electronic ray. He received the Title of the Hero of Socialist Labour and numerous awards.
