Trefilov Victor Ivanovich (1930-2001)
Victor Ivanovich Trefilov is the famous physicist, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Victor Trefilov was born on August 6, 1930. He graduated from Kiev Polytechnic Institute in 1952.
From 1955 to 1973 he worked at the Institute of Metals Physics. In 1973 Victor Ivanovich Trefilov became the Director of the Institute of Materials Science Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
His research work was dedicated to Metals Physics, Physics of Metals Resistibility and Plasticity, Physical Material Science, Powder Metallurgy. He investigated the phase of transformations in steel, titan and other metal alloys at high rates of heating and cooling, austenite formation processes, and steel electroheat treatments.
In 1968—1970 Victor Ivanovich Trefilov has developed the theory of viscous-fragile transition, considering the influence of structural and substructural factors, and the features of electronic structure of crystals on the fracture appearance transition temperature. For the first time he has shown in 1963 that the formation of cellular dislocation structures influences not only the increase of durability, but also the decrease of the fracture appearance transition temperature. Victor Ivanovich Trefilov has developed the optimal modes of thermomechanical processing of chrome, molybdenum, tungsten.
In 1968—1975 Victor Ivanovich Trefilov has made a basis of the "know-how" and the processing of refractory metals. In particular, he has created a series of alloys on the basis of chrome, molybdenum, tungsten and other refractory metals with the raised level of physical and mechanical properties.
Victor Ivanovich Trefilov has implemented the works on synthesis of diamonds and diamondlike connections. For the first time he has developed physical principles of reception of "viscous" ceramics, including diamonds and other superfirm materials.
